Nickname: "Johnnyb"
Real Name: Jonathan Age: 27 Resides: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Occupation: Director of Technology, New Media Worx
Favourite websites: http://www.christdot.org/
Favourite application, game, or program of all time: Game: Mechwarrior series (I actually prefer the Battletech board games, but can't find anyone to play with me); Application: Asterisk rocks.
What are you working on right now: Playing Chromium (VERY addictive); Developing a customizable video platform at work Writing a 3D biological pattern viewer for fun.
What is your current Wallpaper/Screensaver: I don't waste CPU time or GPU memory with backgrounds.
What's so special about your computer room: I can't figure out how to get the case of my work computer back on, so it's taped on loosely so my manager won't complain. There's nothing you can't fix with enough tape.
How many computers do you have: A near-broken Dell Inspirion laptop; A cheapo TigerDirect PC; A few older PII-era machines (not currently used). My wife has an iBook that I'm very jealous of.
What was your first computer: TI 99/4a
Do you remember the first program you ran on it: It was one of those worm games where you eat and grow longer, and try not to walk over yourself.
Geekiest moment of your life: Writing and publishing a book on Linux assembly language, and doing all of the writing, typesetting, and publishing using Linux (cover was designed by an artist using proprietary stuff, though) and releasing it all under the GFDL. This will be eclipsed by my next book which will essentially be a HOWTO for Greenspun's tenth law of programming.
When did you first realize you were a geek: When I was about 7. Being the only person my age interested in programming computers. Thankfully, my Dad taught me BASIC on our TI (not many other choices on such a computer).
Favourite quote: "Certainty of death, small chance of success...what are we waiting for?" --the Dwarf Gimli in Return of the King
If I was a computer program I'd be: gcc -- all work no glamour.
What do you do when you're not at your computer(s): Play with my family, play bass guitar for the church worship band, read heavily.

Jonathan, who likes to keep the Freshmeat catalog memorized, knows more computer languages than he can know how to count (maybe he could write a program to work that out). Jonathan would like you to check out and buy his book. Also, you can read his blog ramblings on the creation/evolution debate.
