Geek Of The Day: WBILANCIO |
|
William's moustache was written in Basic. Nickname: WBILANCIO
Real Name: William
Age: Younger than I feel, but older than I think
Resides: Lawrenceville, NJ
Occupation: System/Network Admin for a Civil Engineering firm...I am the IT department.
Favourite Website: I still hit Slashdot a lot but I spend a lot of time on Doctor Who and Jimmy Buffet websites as well as "tons" of Linux sites...what I am saying is that I don't have one favorite.
Favourite Game Or Program Of All Time: Halflife 2, Putty, Ethereal. One of the best games out there. I use Putty to access all my Linux boxes when I am stuck on that OS from Redmond. And if you are having a problem on your network there is nothing like Ethereal.....
What Are You Working On Right Now: I am working on getting a new server room built and running at work, as well as getting the new back up software up and running.
Current Wallpaper/Screensaver: I just blank out the screen. My backgrounds are scans of old Grateful Dead and Phil and Friends Concert Posters.
What's So Special About Your Computer: That it's so small and yet I can wedge in enough equipment and still be able to sit and work.
How Many Computers Do You Have: I have 5 computers at home 1. Proliant 1400 as my main server; 2. Dell Laptop as my living room computer; 3. A AMD 3500+ CPU Clone with 2 gigs of Ram, 120 Gig SATA Raid 1 data drive as my main desktop machine; 4. A P3 machine as my Media server that holds my MP3 collection and my Taper Friendly bands shows; 5. A P3 computer built into my MAME arcade cabinet.
Geekiest Moment: The first time repairing the radio transmitter at the radio station I worked at when I was just out of high school.
When Did You First Realize You Were A Geek: The first time I entered a radio station studio (circa 1986) and met the radio engineer and helped him repair the control board.
If I Was A Program I'd Be: Kill
Favourite Quote: "Did You Reboot?"

The Truth Behind The Geek (*creative liberties taken for the benefit of the reading audience)
William, who runs the family website Lavignaonline, and is also the treasurer and webmaster for the Linux Group in Princeton, lugip.org, is a deep and complex man. William, who tried to get Stratego approved as an official high school sport, once proved that Pi was actually 3, but had his notes erased from the chalkboard when his classmate wanted to play Hangman.
