If you've always wanted to have something techie and cool on your desk, and I mean more than your 32" LCD monitor, you should really consider investing in, or hinting to your spouse about investing in a digital picture frame. Digital frames (or digital photo frames) are like regular picture frames, only the picture isn't printed, it's like a little LCD panel with some special software inside that displays your digital photography inside an otherwise (seemingly) normal picture frame. Now digital picture frames aren't some novelty fly-by-night gadget. They're supported by all the big names in photography, such as Kodak and Phillips, and these little cool little gadgets come in different sizes, resolutions, and aspect ratios. Some of them have internal memory, play sound and video, and are even supported by Wi-Fi, so that you can transit your images remotely to your picture device--if that isn't techie enough for you. Oh, and if the technical aspects of the digital frame aren't what's important to you, well, they do come in different frame colors and finishes. Now if you're reviewing a digital picture frame for yourself, I suppose they can be likened to your desktop wallpaper on your (boring old) desktop monitor. A digital frame combines the best of both geeky worlds; it's cheaper than a widescreen , and because you can change the image on the screen, you will probably save money on developing! |
